Naval Commander charged with Espionage

The amphibious assault ship USS Boxer transits the East Sea during Exercise Ssang Yong.

Lt. Cmdr Edward C. Lin was arrested 8 months ago. He was arrested at an airport in the U.S Pacific Command Region. According to the charge sheet, he is being charged with 5 counts of Espionage.
Preliminary indications point to espionage to China and Taiwan.
The documents allege that on “divers occasions” the officer did “with intent or reason to believe it would be used to the advantage of a foreign nation, attempt to communicate SECRET information relating to the national defense to a representative of a foreign government.”
